Volunteer Announcements

Come alongside of DDSO sponsored programs to champion the creativity and potential alive within the hearts, minds, and bodies of disabled adults with dreams! Because DDSO provides safe environments and opportunities that foster positive exchanges and relationships, we can all strive to surpass the expectations we have of ourselves and of others.

Due to State budget cuts, DDSO has to maintain a ratio that doesn't allow for the degree of individualized attention that we would like to give to our participants. By volunteering, YOU give the gift of one-on-one attention to program participants who need it most.

Make a commitment to impact a life --volunteer with DDSO today!

Student Aides

DDSO's Community Integration Program (CIP) serves many adults who have been isolated from their local community for years because of a disability. Community outings create options for these adults by allowing them to practice making personal choices, contribute to the community by volunteering, and experiencing life. CIP is currently in need of aids to help on field trips.

Program hours 8:30 - 2:30pm M-F (Volunteer shifts are at least 2 hrs/day and arranged with program director)

If you can make a commitment to at least 1 day/week for 3 months please contact Noreen and make a difference in someone's life! 916-973-1953 or cipvolunteer@ddso.org

A free American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification class will be given to any regular volunteer.

Reading & Writing Tutors

DDSO's Employment Plus program (E+) is looking for reading and writing tutors to assist students in employment classes. Many adults with developmental disabilities have difficulty navigating through life (let alone obtaining employment) without the ability to read and write.

If you can make a commitment to at least 1 day/week for 3 months please contact us and make a difference in someone's life!

Program hours 10 - 2pm M-F (Volunteer shifts are at least 2 hrs/day and arranged with Dennis). 916-973-1966 eplusvolunteer@ddso.org

A free American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification class will be given to any regular volunteer.

Computer Tutor

DDSO's Employment Plus program (E+) wants to know... Can you help a senior achieve his dreams? An adult in our employment program has dreams of learning how to use the computer

(he has a disability and needs 1:1 attention). Working on the computer is the highlight of his day, and acquiring these

skills will assist him as looks for employment.

If you can volunteer 11-12pm on a weekday M-F to help give this fantastic man individual attention please respond!
